Paula Gunn Allen of Laguna Pueblo, internationally acclaimed poet and scholar (The Sacred Hoop; Pocahontas), recently lost her home and virtually all her possessions in a devastating house fire.


On Friday, February 16, at the UNM Student Union building, Acoma A&B, from 7 to 9 p.m. there will be a reading to raise funds for her.

On Saturday, Feb 17th, at SEED Graduate Institute (1700 Atrisco Dr NW), the celebration of the life work of Paula Gunn Allen will continue with a day-long event from Noon-6pm. The day will honor Gunn Allen’s immense creativity and diverse cultural heritages, bringing together Native American storytellers, musicians, bellydancers, poets, writers and comedians. An art show and raffle will benefit Gunn Allen. The event is for the whole family with storytelling particularly for children and a workshop on How to be A Comedian that is popular with teenagers.
