The Costa Rica Experience
An exciting and exotic adventure in a beautiful and remote location. Drake Bay is accessible only by boat, located on the Osa Peninsula, on the Pacific (west) side of Costa Rica on the southernmost tip. The Delfin Amor (Dolphin Love) Lodge is immersed in the total beauty of nature. There’s no need or desire for the Nature Channel here. Our base is also the home to wild monkeys, scarlet macaws and other beautiful tropical birds.

The Costa Rica experience includes 3 full day outings in the near-coastal waters, where we may find ourselves surrounded by hundreds, even thousands of dolphins, and informal seminar meetings and discussions with our facilitator Ryan DeMares. We will also visit Corcovado National Park, the crown jewel of Costa Rica's rainforests, believed to be the most biologically diverse place on Earth. Corcovado is home to over 400 species of birds, 140 mammals, 116 species of amphibians and reptiles. We will also visit the mystical, magical Cano Island, known for its pre-Columbian crop circles and world class scuba diving or snorkeling.

During our adventure together in either Hawaii or Costa Rica, we will see and whenever possible enter the water with a variety of species, including the playful spinner dolphins, pantropical spotted dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, humpback whales, pilot whales, giant manta rays, sea turtles, orcas (Costa Rica) and many more.

The trips to Hawaii and Costa Rica are planned to coincide with the humpback whales annual migration to these waters. Previous trips have afforded us the opportunity to both view these amazing creatures and to enter the water and hear their incredible vocalizations. We will at all times meet these creatures respectfully and within the guidelines of the Endangered Species and Marine Mammal acts.

Included on both trips are 3-4 days of charter day-trips in the near-coastal waters aboard comfortable, well-equipped powerboats. The swimming is very comfortable in either location (water temperature in the 70s in Hawaii, in the 80s in Costa Rica). Non-swimmers are also welcome to join the experience. The view is great both from the boat and in the water, and you don't have to be in the water to come away renewed and transformed by the dolphins!

Each day, after our encounters with the dolphins and other marine animals, we will have an opportunity to gather and process our own perceptions and experiences. Each person will have his or her own unique perspective, yet the common bond of our shared experience is very powerful. In effect, we become a human pod before the trip is over.

In both Hawaii and Costa Rica, there will be plenty of free personal time including two full days on your own to explore. Both sites offer wonderful horseback riding, volcano excursions, and much more. There is first class shopping in Hawaii's Kailua-Kona and a totally different but fascinating shopping experience in San Jose's famous Central Marketplace en route to Drake Bay.

The Hawaaian experience takes place on the "Big Island" of Hawaii, where dolphins and whales are abundant, in the picturesque town of Kailua-Kona. Kailua-Kona, located on the sunny side of the island, is a marvelous place for a week of fun, relaxation, and joyous transformative encounters with dolphins and whales. Included on the tour are four charter-boat cruises aboard a comfortable 38’ yacht, and informal seminar meetings and discussions with facilitator Ryan DeMares.
